Making a difference - Scott McGhee

CIMIC Group made the news recently for being the first Australasian company to achieve an international benchmark for excellence in digital engineering and project delivery.

Scott McGhee was one of EIC Activities’ digital engineering specialists working behind the scenes to ensure CPB Contractors, Leighton Asia, UGL, Sedgman, Pacific Partnerships and EIC Activities all secured British Standards Institution (BSI) Kitemark certification for excellence in Building Information Modelling (BIM) – ahead of any other company in our region.

“My job was to lead and manage the assessment process, prepare all of our internal standards and processes and present the evidence to BSI’s assessors”.

Scott has held digital management roles in UK, Middle East, Africa and Australia and described his experience as a career highlight: “Being first in the field with BSI certification demonstrates just how strongly our Group embraces a digital engineering approach.

“We’re using it at every step of the project lifecycle and now, through this certification, we can assure our clients that we deliver quality to an international standard, as business as usual.

Working with people across the Group was inspiring – we were all on the same page and the project had a lot of integrity. Everyone was passionate about learning from each other, respecting the different companies’ requirements, understanding client needs and adopting global and industry best practice.

“This year I’ll be focusing on training and awareness, and also conducting internal assessments to ensure quality compliance. 

“It’s a great achievement to be named industry leaders, and we’ll be working to retain that status, year after year.”
