As we head towards the end of the year, I’ve been working closely with teams from across the Group, reviewing and finalising tenders, undertaking project and safety reviews, preparing for the year end reporting, and importantly, planning for 2020 and beyond.

For me it’s both rewarding and inspiring, that despite us nearing the festive season, the focus, energy and discipline each of you brings to safety and delivery has not changed. We all have a heightened responsibility at this time of year to ensure we continue to work in accordance with our procedures and critical risk protocols, and guard against any perceived pressure, distraction or fatigue. Please take every step to put safety first and look out for each other’s health and wellbeing, as we prepare some of our sites and offices to shut down and then restart in January, whilst other sites run through the period.

Our pipeline of future projects continues to build through our collaboration and end-to-end capability. In November, CPB Contractors, as part of the NEWest Alliance, was selected as preferred contractor to deliver the Yanchep Rail Extension and the Thornlie to Cockburn Link, as part of Perth’s METRONET program. Additionally, the Northwest Rapid Transit Consortium (NRT), including UGL and Pacific Partnerships, reached contractual close for the extension of the existing NRT PPP in Sydney to now include the Metro City & Southwest line.

Across 2019 we focused on safety, client and financial outcomes, and worked to strengthen the culture in our teams and workplaces through communications and the development of our people. We will continue to build on these attributes during 2020, with a key focus for the new year on delivering value to our clients and shareholders through excellence in our operations.

I’m really pleased that our final edition of Pulse for the year puts a spotlight on our people. So whilst I know you are all busy trying to close out the year, please take a little time to celebrate the stories within.

Thank you for all that you contributed to our company during 2019. For those who are working through, I thank you in advance for keeping our teams safe across December and January. For those taking a break, enjoy the downtime with family and friends, and travel safely.

I look forward to working with you all in 2020.

Thanks and have an enjoyable festive season.
