“When I joined AIA Vitality in 2018 my fitness results weren’t all in the healthy range, and my estimated Vitality Age was one year older than I was. Now, one year on, many of my results have improved dramatically and my Vitality Age now reflects my current age. I’ve reached Platinum status which has given me access to discounted gym memberships, and I have collected over A$800 worth of vouchers.” Manita Singh, EIC Activities Administrator.

The numbers say it all. The AIA Vitality health and wellbeing program, a Fit for work + Fit for life employee benefit in Australia, is helping improve our overall health.

As well as providing members with great rewards for making healthy lifestyle choices, the program’s Vitality Age tool helps members understand and improve their current state of health.

The Vitality Age tool calculates how old you are physically, based on your self-reported health data. A Vitality Age above your actual age is an important call to action; the lower the gap, the healthier you are.

“My Vitality Age was my actual age, and it’s good to know where my general health sits. I’ve got a baseline and I’m determined to stay active for my wellbeing. I recently took on a new challenge and completed the 90km Rouleurs Classic in Bowral, New South Wales with 636 other cyclists. We cycled through the Southern Highlands and rolling hills of Bowral, Berrima, Exeter, Robertson and Kangaloon. These pics show my view at the starting line (T), and when I’m about the cross the finish line (B).” Karin Ng, CIMIC Communications Manager.

How healthy are we?

Using the Vitality Age measure, we can see the AIA Vitality health and wellbeing program is assisting CIMIC Group’s Australian members to improve their overall health.

At the end of 2018, our members’ average Vitality Age gap was 288 days above the group’s actual age. By the end of June this year, the gap decreased by 45% to 157 days.

This is an impressive achievement. On average, employees who participate in AIA Vitality are becoming physically younger.

Savings and benefits

This year alone, our members have earned more than A$237,000 worth of savings and benefits in the form of shopping rewards, discounted movie vouchers, cashback on flights, spa treatments and active benefits.

“I undertook the health assessment and found I was above my recommended weight, with high blood pressure and cholesterol. This was a bit of a shock, I knew I had put on weight but hadn’t realised the other impacts. So, I changed to a healthier diet, increased my activity and I’ve now lost over 10kg. My blood pressure and cholesterol are now down as well. I reduced my Vitality Age by 4 years. This is a beautiful view from a walk I took at Terrigal beach.” Raelee Hobson, CIMIC Group Manager Learning & Development.

Your pathway to better health

Under the AIA Vitality program, new members start on a bronze status and are rewarded with points for making healthy choices like going to the gym or for a health screening, eating right or setting and following through on a physical activity target. Points can then be redeemed for lifestyle and travel rewards.

The more points you earn, the higher your AIA Vitality status and the greater the rewards.
