Welcome back to Pulse for 2020 – and to my first edition as CEO.

As you would know by now, I was appointed as CIMIC Group CEO last week.

With my appointment, our 2020 priorities continue as before. We are focused on safety, our people, risk and bid discipline and operational efficiencies. This includes continuing to extend our market leadership by offering integrated solutions, using innovation and technology to add value, and providing an environment that offers career opportunities and development for our people.

Last week we announced our 2019 full year results. During 2019, we built value for our clients and communities and won strategic new work, which has furthered our work in hand and created a solid pipeline of future opportunities. It’s your ongoing commitment and teamwork that have underpinned these results.

You can read about our 2019 results in our ASX announcements and annual report, which highlight the performance of our operations, and explain the one-off impact to our financial results from our decision to exit an investment in the Middle East.

We have hit the ground running in 2020, and this edition of Pulse captures some terrific examples of our people building their careers, and our teams embedding safety and productivity into delivery, by innovating through design, technology, communication and new work methods.

Our passion for creating a positive legacy for our stakeholders and the communities in which we work and live is echoed in our Australian bushfire response which is supporting relief and recovery efforts with a $1 million employee matched giving initiative. Thank you for supporting this initiative, and our heartfelt thanks go to our people who are volunteering on the frontlines.

Thank you for your efforts in 2019. I am pleased to be part of the Group’s continued success in my new position – we have an exciting and rewarding year ahead.

Juan Santamaria

Chief Executive Officer, CIMIC Group
