EIC Activities hosts graduates from across the Group, exposing these future leaders to the engineering and technical aspects of major asset, infrastructure and resource projects across the globe.

Our graduates have had the opportunity to learn from industry leaders and technical experts to build their technical ability and leadership skills.

Mark Busby, EIC Activities Principal – Infrastructure and Building values the fresh perspective graduates bring into the workplace.

“The graduates provide a welcomed different perspective to some of their more experienced colleagues,” said Mark.

“They are prepared to challenge the norm as ‘business as usual’ does not always generate the best outcome.”

Meet graduate alumni Henry Fitzgerald

Aspiring to gain technical experience, Henry Fitzgerald, Broad Construction graduate alumni completed a rotation with EIC Activities’ bridges team as part of the CIMIC Group graduate program.

“After completing my rotation at Broad Construction as a site engineer, I was eager to spend time with EIC Activities to better understand the role they play in supporting projects across the Group,” said Henry.

To conclude his rotation with EIC Activities, Henry delivered a presentation about key learnings from his experience to colleagues from EIC Activities and Broad Construction.

“EIC Activities’ work with Broad Construction’s tender team has significantly enhanced their ability to create value through value engineering and reduce risk through design,” said Henry.

Supporting project success

Following Henry’s presentation, Camillo Masci, Broad Construction General Manager spoke about continuing the positive collaborative relationship between Broad Construction and EIC Activities.

“We see value in continuing to consult EIC Activities on scheduled innovation projects and reviews of projects during and post-tender,” said Camillo.

At present, EIC Activities is actively involved in at least one field across all current Broad Construction tenders and live projects.

EIC Activities’ structures team regularly collaborates with Broad’s tender and project teams.

“We work with Broad Construction on a range of structural and geotechnical applications and are hoping to further support Broad’s projects with digital engineering,” said Terry Najjarine, EIC Activities Associate Principal – Structures.

Our graduates

Jackson Blacker, Graduate Engineer credits his achievements with CPB Contractors to the well-rounded design experience he gained from participating in a mixture of consultation and design practices with EIC Activities at the start of his graduate program. In five years’ time Jackson hopes to apply the knowledge he acquired from the two-year program and leverage his project experience to service the expansive range of projects assisted by EIC Activities.

EIC Activities Graduate – Engineer Angela Nguyen.

Angela Nguyen, Graduate Engineer joined the graduate program with EIC Activities in 2017. Angela was inspired by the prospect of setting herself up with a solid foundation of knowledge and the opportunity to learn from leading engineering experts.

Her biggest takeaway from EIC Activities was: “Learning the importance of knowledge sharing across disciplines and collaborating across different operating companies.”
