The Australian bushfires have brought a tragic loss of life and extreme hardship to regional and rural areas across the country, with ongoing impacts for people, communities and the environment.

In addition to supporting our people, who have been affected by the fires or involved in volunteer activities, CIMIC Group is contributing to the broader relief and recovery efforts with a $1 million employee matched giving initiative.

Standing behind our people and volunteers
Very sadly, some of our people have been personally affected by the fires. Our thoughts are with them and we are assisting by providing paid leave, so they can focus on their safety, wellbeing and family priorities during this difficult time.

A number of our people are in the field fighting fires and supporting local communities as well-trained volunteers. CIMIC Group provides paid Voluntary Emergency Services Leave to support team members volunteering in emergency/disaster situations. We are proud of our volunteers and thankful for their generous community service.

$1 million matched giving program

CIMIC Group is supporting the bushfire relief and recovery efforts by matching employees’ donations to eligible registered charities, dollar-for-dollar, up to $1 million.

To participate, employees should follow instructions on their intranet site.

CIMIC Group’s donation will be made to key organisations where our employees have directed their donations.

Looking ahead to recovery

Efforts continue to contain the fire front and many areas are taking first steps towards longer term recovery programs. CIMIC Group will continue to assess opportunities to support the recovery with in-kind giving – looking to potentially contribute skills and equipment where we can use our expertise to add value.

Employee Assistance Program

This can be a distressing time for anyone affected by the fires, volunteering or watching the devastating effects the bushfires are having on communities, the environment, livestock and wildlife.

If you need support, discuss it at the earliest opportunity with your supervisor/manager, human resources manager or safety leader.

You can also contact our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) which is a free, voluntary, confidential service available 24/7 to all CIMIC Group employees and their immediate families.
